Why a whole company for one state

It changes as you drive: the pink sandstone of Jaipur gives way to the blue lanes of Jodhpur, then the honey-gold fort of Jaisalmer rising out of the Thar.
South and east: go south and the land turns green and hilly around the lakes of Udaipur. Go east for the tiger forests of Ranthambore and the painted palaces of Bundi.
- Our focus
- Rajasthan, and only Rajasthan at heart
- Based in
- Jaipur
- Old kingdoms
- Dhundhar, Marwar, Mewar and more
- Beyond the state
- Delhi, Agra, Kutch, Orchha, Varanasi
- Every kingdom its own: from Dhundhar to Marwar to Mewar, each old kingdom kept its own court, its own festivals and its own way of cooking a goat.
- Deep, not wide: a company that sells all of India has to know a little about everywhere. We chose to know a great deal about one place.
- The small things: which courtyard at the City Palace catches the morning light, where to stop for chai between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, and which month the lake at Udaipur is full.
- The people: we know the families who run small heritage hotels, and the guides who grew up in the lanes they show you.
- Beyond the border, when it fits: Agra for the Taj Mahal, Delhi for the start of most journeys, and Kutch, Orchha or Varanasi for travellers who want more.
- How they join a route: our beyond Rajasthan pages explain it. The heart of what we do, and the place we know best, is still Rajasthan.
A note on our founder, Karan Jaswal
Karan puts the idea that runs through this company into one sentence: 'Luxury in Rajasthan was never about gold taps. It is time, attention and the feeling of being expected.' Everything on this site follows from it.
Conversation first: every journey begins with a conversation about how you like to travel, and never with a package.
- Drawn by hand: every route is made for one traveller or one family, with the hotels, the rooms and the hour each place is at its best.
- No templates: they make planning faster, but they make journeys worse, so we don't use them.
- Slow down: Rajasthan rewards people who do. That means the fort at opening time, the bazaar before the shutters lift, and the dune that's empty at sunset.
- One state: Rajasthan Luxury Tour is where that approach is pointed at one place. Meet our planners and guides, the people who will actually plan and guide your journey.
How we plan a journey
- Step 1
- Tell us how you travel
- Step 2
- We draw your Rajasthan, within a day
- Step 3
- Shape it together
- Step 4
- Travel with us beside you
Tell us how you travel
How it starts: a short call or a few WhatsApp messages about your dates, your pace and the one thing you must see.
- What a good host asks: do you wake early, do you like long lunches, does a four-hour drive sound restful or tiring?
- Why it matters: a couple on a honeymoon and three generations of one family need very different Rajasthans, even on the same dates.
We draw your Rajasthan
Within a day: you have a route with hotels, rooms and the hour each place is at its best.
- With our reasons: why two nights here rather than one, why this palace for the splurge and this heritage haveli for character.
- With the timing: why you should see Amber Fort at opening time and leave the afternoon for rest.
Shape it together
- Change anything: swap a city, add a night in the desert, slow the pace, or ask for a cooking class or a private dinner.
- Until you say yes: nothing is booked, and no payment is taken until you approve the plan.
Travel with us beside you
On the road: a private car and chauffeur, guides born in each city, and your planner on call day and night.
- One message is enough: if a flight is delayed, or you fall in love with a town and want another night.
- Your energy: we'd rather you spent it on Rajasthan than on logistics.
What luxury means to us
We do love a palace: staying in one of Rajasthan's great palace hotels, where a royal family once lived and sometimes still does, is one of the reasons people come.
The right room beats the right brand: the one that faces the lake at sunset, the one away from the wedding lawns in season, the one with a terrace rather than a window.
- Time
- Fewer places, more nights in each
- Access
- Private viewings and opened doors
- Calm
- A quiet car and a careful chauffeur
- The room
- Matters more than the brand
- Time: fewer places and more nights in each, with no day that begins with a dawn checkout unless the sunrise is worth it.
- Access: the private viewing, the family who opens their haveli, and the guide who can take you to a stepwell or a village temple that isn't on the coach route.
- Calm: a clean, quiet car, a chauffeur who drives carefully, meals at the hour you want them, and someone who has already thought about what could go wrong.
- Sometimes it's simpler: a tented camp on the dunes with nothing but stars overhead, or a small family-run haveli where the owner's mother makes the dal.
- Place to traveller: we match the place to the traveller, not the other way round. See how that works across our signature journeys.
The local voice
Locals, not visitors: we write and plan as locals because that is what we are, and it shows in small things.
Bazaar timing: we know which bazaar opens late and which sweet shop closes once the ghevar is gone.
- Khamma ghani
- The courtly hello of Marwar and Mewar
- Haveli
- A merchant or noble family's courtyard mansion
- Baori
- A stepwell
- Chhatri
- A domed cenotaph
- Jharokha
- An overhanging balcony window
- Light and weather: the walled city is best just after sunrise, and winter mornings in the desert are colder than visitors expect.
- Worth the wait: a Rajput wedding procession will stop traffic for an hour, and it is worth watching.
- The jharokha, explained: from overhanging windows like the ones on Hawa Mahal, royal women could watch the street unseen.
- Understanding, not just seeing: we'd like you to leave knowing what you saw. Our heritage walks and our Rajasthan travel guide are good places to begin.
- Honesty: we'll tell you when a famous sight is crowded and not worth the queue, when a month is too hot, and when a hotel's photographs flatter it.
- A better fit: if we think a different journey would suit you better, we'll say so.
What we won't do
No group coaches: there are no fixed departures. Every journey is private.
No early payment: nothing is taken until you approve the plan.
- Payment
- None until you approve the plan

- Within one working day
- Travel style
- Private, with no fixed departures
- No commission shopping: our guides don't steer you to shops that pay them, and you never have to buy anything.
- No elephant rides: and no captive-animal shows. Our commitments on responsible travel explain why.
- No rushing: if a route needs more nights than you have, we'll suggest a shorter route rather than a faster one.
- No templates: every route is drawn by hand for you.
